A Mid-winter Celebration

Trying to shift deeply held beliefs and behavior patterns is not easy.  One of the tools I’ve used in the past year (or so) is a monthly “I Did It List”. It’s an attempt at a personal celebration of what I did (accomplished) in the month to shift the deeply-held belief that I am not enough. Someone recently commented about not only having a to-do list, but also a ta-da list. A true celebration of accomplishments, no matter how small.

Today I’m going for a blatantly self-promoting, say-it-out-loud, Ta-Da Accomplishment Celebration.

One of the clubs I am in (Garden Club of St Petersburg) had a mostly non-functioning website with a host service that ignored us. Yes, we paid our monthly service fee and our requests to change/modify/update the site were essentially ignored. The club formed a team to redo the website. The team of 5 collapsed over time to a team of 2, with me being the primary leader. Getting a new website designed is not a small task when it is not your field of expertise; the proposed 6-week project took 6 months.

I am thrilled to say that the new website is up and running!  See link here.

The new club website has 27 pages of information/content (some of which you cannot access unless you are a member). I worked with the development team on site design, defining the site map hierarchy and links. I provided the bulk of the content. I learned to use Elementor editing on WordPress so the club (me) has the ability to change/modify/update the site; that’s been a steep learning curve. I’m now “in charge” of updating the calendar and upcoming events regularly.

And so – Ta-Da – the new website is up and running and…. I Did It!

In the other part of my life, we have stairs and interior walls on the house – not my accomplishment but still another mid-winter celebration. The blog header picture is a quick photo of the view from the new, 15 feet in the air, living room (well away from the edge as I wasn’t supposed to even be up there for safety reasons!). Being able to see walls is making the space feel much more real.

Any big mid-winter celebration in your world?

  1. Congrats on the website design – huge accomplishment! I don’t think I’d ever want to start something like that from scratch – so many layers… And I love the view from your balcony – looks like you could dive right over and swim. 🙂
